Description

The mini boater hat is as beautiful as it is striking. Entirely handmade in straw and adorned with a cotton blend handwoven blue grosgrain and three pompoms, the mini boater is the perfect companion for the summer. Pair it with one of our bucket bags for a complete look.

Straw weaving is a lesser known art form practiced by the Wayúu people, particularly in the northern part of the Guajira Peninsula in Colombia. Artisans collect a native palm found nearby the Macuira natural national park. They trek for three hours to the area where the palm is found, and later spend four days preparing and weaving the palm. Each hat is thus unique, the result of a desire to preserve and perpetuate a millenary and beautiful tradition.
