Description

This lovely pair of earrings is called Tordüa, which translates to The Sacred Leaf. The Emberā-Chamí maintain their culture and traditions practically intact. They use traditional plants for healing and community rituals. These important medicinal plants are represented through their pieces.

The Emberā-Chamí are a very spiritual people, they believe that everything and everyone has a soul, as a result their pieces are highly symbolical. The patterns always carry a specific meaning, they are an open window into the Emberā-Chamí, history, culture and traditions.

The colors have specific meanings to the Emberá-Chamí. White, Chïtör, symbolizes peace, light and purity. Blue, pacuarā, symbolizes the skies, water and space.
