Description

This fantastic pectoral is called Nāberā Kiduā, which translates to The Sacred Leaves, a representation of the sacred ancestral plants used by the Shaman or Jaibanā during spiritual rituals and healing ceremoniesThe Emberā-Chamí are a very spiritual people, they believe that everything and everyone has a soul, as a result their pieces are highly symbolical.

The patterns always carry a specific meaning, they are an open window into the Emberā-Chamí, history, culture and traditions. The necklace’s first row represent “Nepono”, flowers, used by the community. The middle rows represent the rivers and the mountains found in Emberā-Chamí territory. The tips represent the sacred medicinal plants used by the Jaibanā.

Colors have specific meanings in Emberā-Chamí culture. Green, parā, represents nature. White, chitor, represents spirituality, serenity and peace.
