Description

This lovely pair of earrings is called Jamo Ambuarā. It means “all united”. This symbol represents the unity of the Emberā-Chamí as a people and the unity of indigenous communities in general. Indigenous peoples have had to fight for the protection of their lands and rights. They know that together they are stronger. This piece pays homage to indigenous strength and resilience.

The Emberā-Chamí are a very spiritual people, they believe that everything and everyone has a soul, as a result their pieces are highly symbolical. The patterns always carry a specific meaning, they are an open window into the Emberā-Chamí, history, culture and traditions.

The colors have specific meanings to the Emberá-Chamí. White, chïtör, symbolises peace, light and purity. Black, chipār, symbolises wisdom and protection. Blue, pacuarā, symbolises the skies, water and space
