Description
This piece represents Jaí, literally, the spirits that inhabit every animate being and inanimate object, found on our planet. The Emberá-Chamí are a very spiritual people, they believe that spirits, good and bad, are found in everything we see around us. They materialise as creatures and only the Jaibaná (Shaman) can see them and control them. Jaís can be good or bad.
The colors have specific meanings to the Emberá-Chamí. Chïtör, white or silver, symbolize peace, light and purity. Black, chipār, symbolizes wisdom and protection. Yellow or gold, chikuārā, symbolize the sun, gold, abundance and happiness.
