As in pre-Hispanic times, arts and crafts play a crucial role in the survival of the cultural tenets of the societies. Nature, thoughts and knowledge are imprinted on the objects which serve as repositories of ancestral wisdom. Modern day indigenous peoples view crafts as intrinsically linked to their identity. Honoring, respecting and preserving crafts is an important mission, undertaken more and more by young members of indigenous groups.
